Just starting to run and not confident yet! The highlights of my running career include running 5 miles through the hills of west salem. ha. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Excited to actually finish a race this year! First a 1/2 marathon then H2C!

CDA1/2 Marathon without dying.  

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep in shape, healthy.  Use running/excercise as a form of thearapy and way to clear my head.  It always puts me in a better mood no matter what! 

Personal:

Happily married with a doggie, Frank and a cat Phoebe.  Human children in the future, God willing!

I realized one of my favorite songs to run to is fat bottom girls... Isnt that counterproductive? Once again I woke  up early and tried to convince husband to work out with me but he would'nt budge from the comfort of the warm, cozy bed!! Post run I did lunges, triceps and a few crunches.

Jordan decided he wanted to work out this morning! So, he took the treadmill while I lifted. So, I had to run on my lunch break, I was so tired from the benching, tricepts, squats, deadlifts and lunges!  4 miles was tough, had to walk .4 mi half way through.

Yes!! I did it!!! Ran 8 miles outside!! Had to walk at the really bad, uphill part on the hill probably about 1/8 of a mile, but whatever.  I am happy I made it most of the way... that hill is a killer.

Didnt make it the full 8 :( Not cool.  Very windy out and Frank was being a real jerk. Its the only day that is supposed to be nice this week so it should be nice to run outside.   Excited for my first official race this weekend even though is a shorty!  I am curious to see what my average minutes per mile is.

OH MY GOSH! Garmin forerunner blows my mind!! I just hooked it up to my computer today and downloaded all the software and I am sooo amazed at what it does!  Did the person who invented this win some kind of award?!  I paired it with my computer and it shows, distance, elevations, times, calories, what movies are playing near me... oops, no not that last one but pretty much EVERYTHINGGGG!! IM So HAPPPY! :) 

It was soooo windy and cold out, balls!! I am so ready for nice weather and Frankie had the runs.... ugh. Poor guy, we had to stop like 3 times.

Yes, lettuce wraps were delish. I also had coconut curry veggies.. got home and looked up that dish in my calorie counter book and turns out its like one of th e most fattening things they have! It's the coconut!

Ugh. Feel so sick today...  Stayed home from work too.  My throat hurts, my chest is tight and I feel so stuffed up.  To run or not to run when sick?  I dont feel like it now, but I feel so guilty with the 1/2 marathon a little over a month away.

First of all, your comment made me LAUGH OUT LOUD! Yep, let's swim 10 miles now! Second of all, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad! And I'm sorry for myself because you're not here to entertain me at work! Feel better. Third of all, do NOT be stressing about the half marathon, I guarantee you you could do it today. Just make sure to get a 12 in there before hand and you'll be FINE. I promise. Finally, always be safe than sorry, so rest if your body is telling you to rest. But I read somewhere that its okay to do easy runs through colds, but you should always rest through flus. So think about which it is! And then REST! There's always tomorrow. FEEL BETTER!

Thanks for the encouraging words nicole! i am going to take it easy today.. i read online that if its above the neck youre ok, below the neck you should rest. mostly above the neck but my chest feels really tight. hopefully tomorrow will be better. no i havent signed up! i will by friday promise!

Finally was able to run today.  My chest and head didnt feel all that great but was better than expected.  Ran at a slow pace on the treadmill for 5 miles.

Meant to run yesterday outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.   However, after being sick with probably the worst cold I've had in a couple of years, I mangaged to also contract pink eye. GROSS! This is something I've never had before either!  So, now I am home once again becuase it is highly contageous. My husband won't even sleep in the same bed as me. :(  How could I make sales calls, meet with customers and expect co-workers to suffer in fear that they might too contract "the pink eye"?  So, my boss told me to stay home. 

Karma is a you-know-what, this is what I get for making fun of my husband for being sick last week with the "man cold".

Hopefully, I'm on the road to recovery.

I am so upset right now because I cannot get the Garmin to automatically update to my computer.  I think Jordan erased some of the software I downloaded last weekend!  And now I cant find the manual because I am unorganized.  Ugh hope to get it figured out again...!!!!!! I need to know my splits!! Even though I was terribly slow tonight!!! It was a gorgeous night and warm!! Only wore tshirt and shorts it was great, but still very windy in these hills!  Makes for a good work out while going up hill.  Now off to a double header for softball! 

TT 58:00 exact.  Really actually very dissappointing, just makes me realize how far off of my goals I really am. I had to stop once while going up the hill because I was too tired!

I totally feel your pain. I hate how sometimes you feel stellar and other days you feel totally worthless. I'm headed out right now for a run and I already feel like its probably going to be bad! Also, OUCH for your thigh! That's pretty much why I'm afraid to play softball now - after taking a line drive to the ankle shin. It was HORRIBLE. And I've almost been hit in the head running to 1st a couple times - those guys and their egos make it scary! Fun plans today?

met my goal for the week! It was kind of messed up though because I started out on the treadmill because I was scared to run outside that early with out frank :( So, I ran 5 on the treadmill at about a 9:41 pace (6.2) Then I got really bored and ran outside right about the time it started to downpour! So, that lasted 2 miles and came back in and finished on the treadmill for the last 3 (approx 6.2 tried to go faster at the end)  

So, dont really have splits.

I have been fitted before, so I kind of know what I need.

They are under armour, mens 8.5 lots of room for my toes, light and with minimal cushon.

They felt good.

Don't be depressed! What can I do? It weirds how sometimes one thing can trigger you to think about everything else in your life that sucks (like you stub your toe so suddenly you're sad you're injured and can't run the CDA half with the coolest girl ever, you're never going to be done with school, you don't really have a job next year, etc.)! Okay! The run i was dreading/looking forward to (to see if i could actually do it) is over and i did it! :)

What an absolutely gorgeous day!!  I ran 2, 6 mile loops over to Burly Hill and up Eola.  First loop was with Frank and then dropped him off and rehydrated with coconut water and did the second.  Frankie was pretty well behaved except when he tried to go after this kid on a skate board! I definately had to walk up Eola once the first loop for about .1 miles and about .15 the second time. :( 

All in all a good run, but that hill is the devil himself.

Ran with Frank this morning.  A small polmeranien (sp?) type dog was chasing after us and I didnt even realize it for awhile, then I saw its owner chasing after it, after us!  She did not look happy, then Frank tried to mal it to death and it freaked out.  So I ran her dog back to her and she didnt even say thank you.  She just grabbed her dog with an angry face.  Oh well, I had a good run and its been a good start to what hopefully will be a great day. :)

Did the long run today so it's out of the way for the weekend.  Busy tomorrow morning and then  working in the yard all day and I knew once the afternoon came I would'nt want to run for 2 hours tomorrow!  

Today was sooooooo nice out!! I love it!  

Right now  my legs (mostly my butt and hamstrings) and lower back do not feel good.  After about mile 11 feet and hams started to cramp pretty bad.  I definately do not feel like playing 2 softball games now!  But, off I go.  A couple of beers and bed sounds amazing!

It always cracks me up when I see people doing hard physical activity and then they're smoking, its like an oxymoron.  Today these 3 guys were working really hard in the yard hoe-ing and stuff and smoking.  And a couple of weeks ago I saw this guy mowing his lawn with one hand (pushing the mower) and drinking beer with the other... awesome! 

Already my body is starting to feel better.. and I love the GU.  I got the fruit snack kind and I really like those!

Not impressed with AP :((  I swear its like 10X's windy-er here in the afternoon than in the AM wich makes things very difficult...excuses excuses.

Yes! I did it. :) This was such a great race, I enjoyed myself thoroughly.  Nicole was the BEST motivator ever. I race, I thought was perfect and I loved running along the lake, it brought back a lot of memories of when I was a kid, living down there.  I will absolutely do it again, and maybe, just maybe a full someday? ... Someday. Not now! We had a great time in Coeurdalene with Justin and Nicole and my parents.  

Running this race was in my top 5 best days ever, for sure! I havent felt this great about myself in a long time; I remember feelling like this when we won state in Softball and Basketball in high school .  (It seems stupid and insignificant now.. but it's all I have to compare it to!) I had such a great sense of accomplishment. I achieved something I didnt think was possible.

Just realized how whimpy 3 splits look. Oh, well.

Last lap would've been faster but towards the end of the run Frank saw a cat in a field and decided that he NEEDED to chase after it. So, pulling my arm off and me with him off he went.  And off I went straight into a huge light pole and he would'nt stop so my head/ear and wrist slammed into the pole really hard.  Now my right wrist hurts really bad and it's swolen.  So, I trotted home sobbing and wanting to kill my dog.  I couldnt stop crying when I got home, Jordan thought something really bad had happened to me or Frank got hit.  I dont think my wrist is broken, I think it's just bruised really bad.  Frank is so horrible sometimes, I dont understand it. He might need a shock collar. 

Anywho, off to Chicago for a sales summit, I hope it's fun.

That was the worst place to take pics, right when I wanted to murder someone.  Maybe it was becuase frank wasnt pulling my arm off because of the new GENTLE LEADER THAT I LOVE!!! It was awesome! He kept trying to take it off but then he realized it was there to stay and he ran at such a good pace and kept right next to me.  Now I dont have fantasies of a shock collar!  So, he should be happy too. :) Thank you, thank you Nicole!! Don't get down on yourself though, I think its really hard to meet your goal when you're on a time crunch (aka in the morning or on a lunch break). Things just always take longer (like getting ready, driving, etc.) than they should.

I feel like a cheat! These times are not accurate!  Something got screwed up on mile 7 and the distance kept going but the time stopped for about 1 minute or two.  So actual time and ap are not as good as this refelcts!  So, ap was maybe 9:30's??  Still I am satisfied with the 7 before work. HTC is 3 weeks away so for the next two weeks I need to do two-a-days at least once a week.  And then do an easy week the week before.

On a side note, we saw a dead cat up close and personal. So gross!  It's eyes were popping out and all bloody.  Sad. :-(

Now, just have to clean the house top to bottom tonight to get ready for the parentals.

You go lady! I hope I can get a double in before H2C. Last night when I got home I felt SO ambitious and started going through the whole house sorting stuff for Goodwill. But you know how that goes.... I got tired of it after 2 hours or so! And then.... the house was a DISASTER! We couldn't even really get in the bathroom there was so much stuff blocking the way. Moral of the story - I'm awesome?

Very surprising AP, I thought it would be worse! I walked so much and felt terrible!   Lucky to get 8 miles I think.  It was so hot and windy.  Took frank for the 6 mile loop then dropped him off and picked up Cash for another 2.  Later had a WTPP! And enjoyed some cold brew in the kiddy pool. :-) AHHH Summer.. HTC is 2 short weeks away! Hopefully it cools down before then.

Way to get out there despite the heat! What time did you start? I was lucky to be on a pretty shaded trail but it was HOT by 10 and that in Seattle (only 90 versus 100!).

Had a great run today, I thought it would be bad like last weeks long run but it turned out good. :-) (Thanks to Nicole I felt the need to go further than my 8 I had planned, thanks for pushing me!) Before I left I saw your killer 19!!!!

Then I cleanded the bbq from all the mice babies! YUCK! But, it's all good now. Accomplished so much already, I can be lazy the rest of the weekend..! Maybe. Made delish zucchini bread last night and husband helped me clean the whole house!! = Very happy wife.

Race: Hood to Coast Relay Race (197 Miles) 28:33:00, Place overall: 520, Place in age division: 390

Okay, this was the relay race of a lifetime.  It was truely an amazing experience to take part in.  Full of highs and lows!  We started from the top of Mt. Hood in Oregon and ran down to Seaside, Oregon in 28 hours and 33 minutes.  I was in van 1, luckily we were finished first! The low was when I ran at 2:30am with out sleeping yet and it was in the middle of no where and pitch black.  I was praying that God would keep me and everyone else safe!  I was inside terrified of a drunk driver or a driver not paying attention and hitting someone.  Needless to say I was so happy when this leg was done.  

First leg was on Friday at 2:32PM Ran around 7.40 miles to Sandy, Oregon. I was so nervous at the begining I couldnt get my hear to stop pounding until around mile 2. There were more uphills than I had anticipated from the map, but it was a great run. Beautiful weather!  Kind of scary having the semis pass by at high speeds though.

Second leg was early Saturday morning at 2:32, like I mentioned above, very scary! I kept turning left when volunteers told me to go right! Oops, no sleep makes me delirious! Luckily this was my shortest leg for the race, but it did have the most hills out of all my legs.

Slept in van for 2 whole hours after Nicole navigated our way to the next stop.  This was a difficult time, she was so tired, along with everyone else but got us to the right spot safely!

Third and final leg 11:40am- last leg for our van! I actually couldnt wait to run this leg.  I knew there was mostly downhill, there was more uphill than I had thought but still had lots of adrenaline to get me through.  I also had the most road kill on this leg than all the others, so that was fun.  Ran into Astoria, and had the encouragement from all the vans backed up in traffic for the second 1/2.

2) My mom told me AFTERWARDS how everyone goes on Hwy 26 to get to Mist instead of the ridiculously scary/tiring way we went at 4am.

3) I was totally terrified of all of us being killed (by cars)! My last leg seemed the safest which is probably why I liked it best!

That's a good question. Wear an LED light! I don't know, I hate running in the dark but am sad that means that the evil TM is all there is for me. I was lucky yesterday and because of weird work things one of my jobs is on hiatus so I started running at like 6:45am and it was light. DON'T LEAVE ME SUMMER!

Went one big loop- in the opposite direction. That was weird and I did not like it as well.  There was a girl infront of me running with her dog and I had to go a different way because Frank was freaking out! The hill seemed bigger on the way back!  I also had to walk a lot. :(

I like the mornings I just get scared I will get kidnapped or something rediculous! But I am sure I am fine!! THe neighborhood is safe and I have a 80lb dog, phone, mace, reflectors.. Just went walking with mom this day. Not quite sure how far it was but this is probably a good estimate. Had a great girls weekend with mom and Lisa! Watched harrisons hs football game last night. It was so weird to be at a hs game! Weird to watch Harry coaching instead of playing too! Saturday night we watched the movie the wildest dream about the first people to climb mt. Ecstasy. Which was so crazy!! I decided I'd rather run a 100 miles than do that! It was amazing the conditions they endure! Then did a little shopping and had yummy dinner and wine. Very relaxing visit at home!

HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I hadn't read the 2nd comment before the first. Then it would have been even MORE hilarious! I'll have to watch that movie! I wish you were here - Dean Kanrnazes is coming to REI in seattle in November - he's an ultramarathoner who runs 100+ mile races and has run relay races like Hood to Coast by himself! Rain, rain go away!! So foggy out too! Not very cold though so that was good. Overall a good run, but we saw a dead kitty. :( And I started to get some weird cramping going up the hill?? Okay, I AM SO LAME! Today was the first run all week. I totally slacked and decided to sleep instead of get up early. Traveling to the East is so hard because of the time change and then to get up early to work out was just not happening!  Happy to be home and on my regular schedule. On a better note, I went further today than I have in a LONG time. I had to walk a ton, but I'll take it. There were so many slug babies out today. Gross.

Stretched a lot at the end of the run, my legs felt so tight because of all the sitting and lack of activity this week. I hate that! Then did 100 situps and 3 sets of 7, bench pressing 65lbs.

All I wanted to do was sleep today! What's wrong with me?  I slept until 8 and then went down on the couch and immediately wanted to go back to bed. Somehow I convinced my self to go out running. I still feel sooo tired just want to sleep all day! 

The run was pretty good, cold, wet, foggy but pretty good.  There are so many leaves on the ground I wish they would clean them off the sidewalks so I don't feel like I'm going to slip and fall!

Had a fabulous run at the beach through the dunes and on the beach a little. It was beautiful out and couldn't have had a better day!! Dug some clams with our best buds later in the afternoon. :)

Nice run outside.  I slacked sooo bad this week!! Horrible.   But, it was sooo nice to sit in the hot tub with our best friends! Yay for the hot tub!! It was the best purchase ever! Merry Christmas Jordan!

Okay, so this run was supposed to happen yesterday! But, drank wayy too much at Jordan's company christmas party on Friday night so running yesterday am was out of the question! I had such high aspirations Friday night to run from our house to Dallas where we left our car (because we couldnt drive home) which would be 9.3 miles, a long/perfect run. Ha! Get Real. I could barely get out of bed yesterday. Ugh. 

So today I did do a new loop.  Instead of going down the hill through west salem I went up and down to HWY 22 towards the coast.  It was a nice change of scenery. Ran for 59 minutes... so probably a little more than 6 miles.

Took the great advice that Nicole gave and downloaded the GPS app for my phone. :) So yes, I know I ran 5, I just didnt time it. Oh, well.  After next week I really need to get back to being more disciplined!! I feel like such a slacker lately, not to mention I've gained a legitimate 5 lbs.  Ugh. I cant wait to have my Garmin back!

I feel your pain. I am the biggest slacker EVER. I don't want to run on the treadmill but I don't want to run in the dark or rain either, so its a baaaad combination. I WILL RUN TODAY!

It was so nasty out this morning, raining like crazy and very windy.  I ran 3.5 on the TM and saw that it had cleared up a bit so I thought I'd better finish out side and let Frank stretch his legs too. I put on a long sleeved tshirt and headed out in my shorts.  Burrrrrrrrr!! It immediately began raining again! I managed 2.5 out side and came back soaked and cold. I cannot wait for my garmin to be back! I'm afraid to see what my splits will be when I finally can track it again... 11:30, 10:30, 11:00 haha. Oh, well I WILL get back into it more consistently after Christmas. :) 

Now off to ID for an entire week for Christmas vacation! Very excited to be home, just wish Jordan could join me. :(  He will be there on Thursday in time for Christmas Eve/Christmas!

Went to the gym with my mom and ran on the TM.  Kept  a pretty good pace the whole time started out at a 9:31 pace, ran 2 miles at this and then sped up about 10 seconds every mile after that.  Felt good to stretch my legs and look out at the snow covered parking lot! :)

We were going to go to spinning but my mom forgot her shoes so we had to drive back home and get them, missing the spinning class. Just as well, had a good run. Tomorrow maybe pilates. Now off to finish Christmas shopping.  Buying stocking stuffers, the best part. :)

Ran on the TM again at the gym with my mom. After the run I did 15 mins on the stair climber. I could really get used to this, sleeping in, gym, mom makes breakfast, no work....

Ran with jordy outside on the snowy roads at my parents cabin. So cold outside but it was great. Took 3 dogs! Frankie, trixie and Elsie. They had a lot of fun. Luckily no one fell on the slick roads. :-) merry Christmas eve everybody!!!

Finally, finally managed to get my butt outta bed this am and run before work.. Husband is back!  I always get paranoid of running in the dark when he is gone.  How would anyone know if I was kidnapped if he wasnt there?!? Dumb, so I need to do better about running on the TM, but then I feel so guilty about Frank.  I guess 1 person (me) getting a run in is better than none. NEXT WEEK= 4 days of running!
